The Nelaga Territories

Presidential Elections shall be held in the week beginning Sunday the 1st of November, with voting available throughout that week. Anyone wishing to stand for the Presidency must:
a. Be a citizen and
b. Nominate themselves in this thread by Saturday the 30th of October.

I will remain as Acting President until the elections have been concluded.

OOC: Technically, I think Fides has the right to call them, not me, and so can overwrite this if he wants. I'd prefer you just approve it, Fides.

As my citizenship has been approved, I would like to stand for President. I think this nation needs new blood in the Presidency.

To keep things fair, I'll act as Returning Officer, and not vote in the elections myself.

I do not think I shall run. I support Vur'Alm in his race, though it'd be nice if there was another candidate throwing their hat in the ring.

I don't know this new citizen, but I do know myself, and I know that I would make a good president.

Fellow citizens, I am preeminently qualified to assume the office of president. I have been involved in the Apollo Sector for over a decade. I was around when all of this started, which gives me experience. More than simple experience though, is the fact that I have something else that comes with experience.

Temperance is needed in a good leader, so he doesn't fly off the handle at unexpected situations. It also means that I have the moderation to hear all sides equally. Temperance is also characterized by self-restraint, which is a quality I believe I possess.

Fortitude is also a word I would like to put forth. It is described by dictionary.com as, “mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity,”

I have always been a bit... stubborn? Harvey can certainly attest to this. I have always been a FIoJ zealot, and now with the creation of Nelaga, that zealotry can find its outlet here. I love Nelaga. I am passionate about Nelaga. I will defend Nelagan interests to the death if need be.

If elected president, all of my micronational attention will be funneled here. I will go on a permanent LOA from Shireroth until my tenure as president is over. Nelagan projects will come first. Together, with myself as first among equals, we will rise as a phoenix, with our glory burning brightly for all to see!

Vur is Andreas as a Micron

Acting-President Andreas, sir, I have heard a bit of murmuring from sources that apparently didn't want to reveal themselves regarding the fact that you are running the election while simultaneously being a candidate in the election, even if the two are different personas. While I personally trust you, and I don't think anyone would disagree that they trust you, and the whole thing is so transparent that it would be really hard to cheat anyway, it still sets a bad precedent.

I think it would be better if you appointed someone else to write the ballots and tally up the results. It would be a very simple job. This duty would normally be done by the Executive branch, which means Fides, but I'm available if he is unwilling or unable to perform the duty.

I am glad that Gman is running, and commend him for his vision for Nelaga. He would make an excellent President. And I don't mind that you don't recognise me - I'd prefer not to press OOC advantages to different characters too much. I just thought it would be more fun to be a micron.

My vision for Nelaga, if you elect me as President, is threefold. First and foremost, I would like to redevelop the political system of the nation into a meritocracy, something I've been discussing with Harvey. While Timed Democracy is fun, and eminently Jasonian, the whole democratic system is still too similar to generic micronational things. I think a working meritocracy would provide a new level of interest and flair to Nelaga, both to keep old citizens interested, and to attract new citizens. Obviously Harvey and I intend to make this change with much consultation with the rest of the citizenry to ensure the system works for Nelaga, so don't worry about me abusing constitutional powers to change everything if I get elected.

Secondly, I would like to develop a micron presence in Nelaga; something that Micras has not seen for quite some time. Microns are an important and special race to me, and so I don't want to do something cheap like just say "we're all microns now" - I want to develop them properly and integrate them as a part of the nation, but of course not the whole. Doing this as a micron President would be awesome.

Thirdly, I have noticed Nelaga as a source of excellent and ambitious new ideas for the sector - JASO, BGI, Aurora, QUARREL ... I'd like to assist these to continue to grow and develop. In particular, I've got several exciting ideas for JASO research areas (and of course I'll keep programming ATTILA whatever).

So if you like my vision for Nelaga, vote for me.

No problem. It seemed a good excuse at the time for why the Andreas character is not voting while Vur'Alm is, but its a fair point that I'm still OOC running an election I'm participating in.

Four days... four days of nothing. This has to change! we will find a way out of this! I will not give up on Nelaga. It is my home, it is my dream. It is my time to make a difference.

Elect me, and I will pour my heart and soul into this nation. It is true, that my rival has more intelligence, there is no doubt of that.

But I am a man of action, and a man of my word. I am also a man of heart. I am stubborn. When I set my mind to it, it WILL happen, because i'm just crazy enough like that. I hold my campaign promises to be true, that if elected I will quit everything else and focus on Nelaga exclusively. This I so swear.

Glad to see we have a serious race going , and not a one person landslide like it looked to be when I called the elections (of course, when I called them it looked like we might have serious trouble even filling the post of President ...)

And no one knows where the finishing line is or who marked out the track...
