The Nelaga Territories

(as referenced from this post. Please note that this was supposed to be written by Harvey Lekuan several days before the establishment of the Nelaga Territories as a country and the recwar that followed. Also, obviously don’t worry about the security clearance stuff)

THE RAVEN CORPS

Established on this day ACS 3420 (December 15th, 2008) by the authority of acting-President Harvey Lekuan


Preface:

In the ancient of times, the country of Jasonia was protected by the Control of Destiny team. The most elite of the elite, this small and highly mobile strike force had the ultimate authority in the Flying Islands of Jasonia to handle any threat; domestic, foreign, interplanar, extraterrestrial, inter-epoch, and beyond. Entire armies, nay, entire nations stood against them and fell. Combining quick leadership, major military hardware, a staggering array of equipment and artifacts, and arcane, divine, and psionic powers, there was little that stood a chance against them. They protected the nation to their end, and though the Flying Islands did fall, many of these heroes gave up their lives to ensure the continued prosperity of Micras.

Then again, in the ancient of times in Jasonia, the bathrooms worked properly too.

We have lost nearly everything from those days. Our lands. Our technology. Our world-spanning empire. All of it has gone into the memories of the past, immortalized in movies and in video games but having little physical presence. We cannot allow ourselves to float on the past.

Yet, this is exactly the time not to give up, but to redouble our efforts. We have nowhere to go but up, quite literally!

I am currently embroiled in a global conflict against powers I barely understand. With Jonas, Andreas, Cerune, Areuhat, and others, we have uncovered many secrets of the past. There are some whisperings that this may be the beginning of a new Control of Destiny team for the modern era. Time will judge, as it always does. But in the meantime, there are many questions without answers.

I cannot be everywhere, nor do I have time to know everything. Therefore, the establishment of an organization dedicated to the continued existence of our lands, as well as Micras as a whole, by use of the mysteries of the past is necessary.

I therefore establish the NELAGAN RAVEN CORPS.


Duties:

The Nelagan Raven Corps shall be tasked with the following:

• The finding, organization, and security of any ancient ruins where we have reasonable belief to suspect the existence of any xenotech (defined as technology of unknown or uncertain origin that is not readily obvious of use or that appears to have lost function)

• Full reports on any recovered xenotech ancient devices of military, civilian, or mundane use, be they Jasonian, Micran, or of other origin, as well as the transportation and storage of these devices.

• The reengineering, modification, or any other efforts necessary to restore to function recovered xenotech devices, as established on a case-by-case basis.

• The safety of all operations involving the recovery, experimentation, or production of xenotech.

• A full list of any powers that may have the ability to harm Nelaga or Micras at large that have access to any xenotech devices.

• The history of these powers including their origins, suspected motives, capabilities, and weaknesses.


Secrecy:

The Nelagan Raven Corps are to maintain reasonable secrecy at all times. While this is not a spying organization, many of our efforts would be hampered by public knowledge of our aims and gains.

The Captain of the Raven Corps and the President of Nelaga, no others, have full authority on matters of secrecy and whom to inform of the existence of the Corps as well as any relevant current projects or technologies.


Authority:

The Nelagan Raven Corps shall have full autonomous authority as a branch of the military as well as all departments of state. Any requests to those departments, made to Raven Corps members and handled with covert care, shall not be denied.

The Nelagan Raven Corps have full authority to operate outside the boundaries of the Territories, including with allied nations (who may or may not know of the Raven Corps directly) or, if necessary, in secret, as is deemed by Corps leadership.
